The list was published today, Wednesday. Professor Yunus has been placed in the 'Leader' category in this list titled 'Time-100'.
This US magazine published the names of a total of 100 influential people in 6 categories. Along with Professor Yunus, the list of leaders includes US President Donald Trump, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, US Vice President JD Vance, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, known as 'Iron Woman', and US billionaire Elon Musk, along with 21 others.
A brief essay on each person on the Time list was published. Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wrote about Professor Muhammad Yunus. She wrote that last year, a student-led coup ousted Bangladesh's authoritarian prime minister. Then, a well-known leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Muhammad Yunus, stepped forward to lead the country on the path to democracy.
Hillary Clinton wrote, "Decades ago, Yunus founded the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh with the aim of empowering the most marginalized communities through microfinance. Through it, he helped millions of people, 97 percent of whom were women, build their businesses, sustain their families and regain their dignity. I first met Yunus when he visited Arkansas to help then-Governor Bill Clinton and me launch a similar program in the United States. Since then, I have seen the extraordinary impact of his work everywhere I have traveled around the world. His work changes lives, empowers communities, and inspires hope for recovery.’
Hillary Clinton wrote, ‘Now Yunus has once again answered his country’s call. He is lifting Bangladesh out of the shadow of oppression, restoring human rights, establishing accountability, and laying the foundation for a just and free society.’
